Kerscott Garden Cottages are situated between the market town of Barnstaple and South Molton, with its many antique shops. The moors of Exmoor National Park are within easy reach, and the North Devon coast with acres of sandy beach at Saunton and the rugged cliffs of Combe Martin and Lynton.

Further afield for a day trip perhaps there is Dartmoor National Park, sailings to Lundy Island, and the inspirational Eden Project in nearby Cornwall.

This is wonderful walking country, whether following the South West coastal path, the Tarka Trail or the Two Moors way or the many miles of local footpaths across the unspoilt countryside. We provide walking maps and guide books to help you find a good pub lunch or scrumptious Devon cream tea to break your journey.

As for the gardens......... there are many interesting gardens in North Devon open under the National Gardens Scheme (the NGS 'Yellow Book' is in your cottage), and of course Marwood Hill Gardens, and the National Trust garden at Knighthayes near Tiverton. The Garden House at Buckland Monachorum is well worth a trip to the edge of Dartmoor.

Rosemoor, The Royal Horticultural Society's garden at Torrington is just a thirty minute drive away. Inspired planting, a good place for lunch (outside on sunny days) with a striking winter garden for out of season visits.

Across the Somerset border there is the Margery Fish garden at East Lambrook, the Hadspen Garden and Nursery near Castle Cary, and the Forde Abbey Gardens near Chard.
